Dorsey is an information designer.

She co-directs the VisHub lab at the University of Edinburgh and lectures in data visualization. Alongside her academic practice, she designs interactive information visualizations and interfaces that help people explore, communicate, and understand data across digital, physical, and environmental media. She believes data, when used thoughtfully, has the power to make us more human—revealing connections and expanding our understanding of the world around us. Check out her public talks, exhibitions, and events here.

She is known for her unconventional, artistic approach to data visualization, earning industry recognition such as the Information is Beautiful Gold Award (2023) and collaborating with leading organizations including the World Bank, Yale Law Journal, the Mellon Foundation, the National Library of Scotland, and others.

She bridges theory and practice by bringing real data challenges into her classrooms and contributing to vis research, exploring how visualization as a creative medium can enhance data literacy and shape how we think, feel, and act—at individual, collective, and planetary scales.
